Lake Superior is forever magical to this MN gal. Last week, I spent five days staring at it, mostly while sitting on a cliffside rock with the cool wind sweeping across my face. It’s the same but different, every time.

I recorded 30 seconds of the waves so you can feel it too.

And here are a few other sweet moments from the past few months, since suddenly it’s September.

It was a reflective time for me, and included lots of walks, new projects, gardening, fruit, quiet time, refreshing visits with friends, and low key outings. I made a new flower garden where a tree once was, ate so many peaches, and observed many beautiful summer skies.

She gets it

On repeat

Why not also reveal my top listens of June through August? I went into my listening history and found the most played albums, then picked one song from each of them. Highly recommend listening to the full albums start to finish, though.

“Slap”
Madeline Kenney, Kiss From the Balcony (2025)

The percussion, distorted guitar, and synths go hard on this one. Fun rhythms and transitions, too.

There’s such a refined complexity happening in this album and it’s addicting.

“Crawwee”
Salami Rose Joe Louis, Son of a Sauce! (2016)

Calm space ocean bops.

This year’s Salami Rose Joe Louis record, Lorings, sent me back to their first album. It has such a playful charm mixed with emotionality that I can’t get enough of.

For something a bit more hardcore, check out this live performance of “Z E E C O M P L E X”—A JAM.

“Chorch (Demo)”
Nick Hakim, Where Will We Go (2025)

Slow burn hazy soul.

Nick Hakim is one of my favorite artists, and recently he granted us with this collection capturing his early work and recordings from 2012-2013. This song is just a taste.

“Normalize”
Gelli Haha, Switcheroo (2025)

I wasn’t so sure Switcheroo would be for me at first glance, but wow was I wrong. This brought back some serious nostalgia of 2010s psych pop but with wildly fun [real] synth and strong execution. This album is simply a great time.

“Old Shadows”
Alice Phoebe Lou, Oblivion (forthcoming Oct 2025)

Alice Phoebe Lou knows how to write a song, and this is a perfect and timeless one, IMO.

Notable mentions:
SAYA by Saya Gray
My Method Actor by Nilufer Yanya
